"The Cats of Ulthar" is a short story composed by American dream creator H. P. Lovecraft in June 1920. In the story, an anonymous storyteller relates the narrative of how a law prohibiting the executing of felines came to be in a town called Ulthar. As the account goes, the city is home to an old couple who appreciate catching and executing the townspeople's felines. At the point when a troop of vagabonds goes through the city, the little cat of a vagrant (Menes) going with the band vanishes. After knowing about the couple's fierce demonstrations towards felines, Menes summons a petition before leaving town that makes the nearby cats swarm the feline executioners' home and eat up them. After seeing the outcome, the neighborhood government officials pass a law precluding the slaughtering of felines.
Impacted by Lord Dunsany, the story was an undisputed top choice of Lovecraft's and has stayed famous since his passing. Thought about extraordinary compared to other short accounts of Lovecraft's initial period, parts of The Cats of Ulthar would be referenced again in the creator's works The Other Gods and The Dream-Quest of Unknown Kadath. It was first distributed in the abstract diary Tryout in November 1920 and now lives in the open space.
